ideas magazine

Ideas (South Africa) is an independent magazine put together by a small, dedicated editorial team. It comes out bimonthly. Three projects featured in the magazine are:

  • Birdcage – issue 405
  • Tree – issue 405
  • Gather Around – issue 408

Styled and photographed beautifully by the Ideas team, the projects offer detailed instructions from transferring the designs to doing the embroidery, and include a list of requirements and the traceable designs. 

The magazine is available from newsagents throughout South Africa.

The UK Embroiderer's Guild publishes Stitch magazine (UK), "the essential hands-on magazine for creative stitchers". A project featured in the magazine is:

  • Around the World – issue 108

Projects in Stitch magazine span traditional and modern embroidery using a variety of stitching techniques and materials. And there are a number of back issues available.

Known as "the world's most beautiful needlework magazine", Inspirations magazine (Australia) is shipped worldwide and projects from back issues are available as PDF patterns. Four projects featured in Inspirations magazine, three of which are now available as patterns, are:

  • Petal Power – issue 81

The patterns are beautifully styled and photographed, with detailed stitching instructions, and include the full-size embroidery design.

Kindred Stitches (Australia) is a digital sewing and craft magazine that includes clickable links and how-to videos that can be viewed directly from the pages of the magazine. There are 40 issues available and two projects featured in the magazine are:

  • Redwork in the Round – issue 36
  • Home Hoop Art – issue 40

Beautifully photographed, the instructions take you through the projects step by step, with photographic instructions for the stitches.
